As a matter of 'inside dirt' I know that at least 3 people (including myself) other than Mr. Vixie who were employed by MAPS in mid-2000 each believed themselves to have come up with the same basic concept of a DNS record defining sending addresses independently. It was never clear to me why Paul credited Jim Miller and not people he had recently employed, but I'm not sure that he ever really listened to the multiple firehoses of wild ideas that bounced around MAPS in that period.
