Nah, all I needed, at least at the moment, is to fix a bug in Sphinx (i'll make a bug report about that) and use the custom parser I already wrote. For Manuel I have to make it use sphinx doctest parsers, or reimplement them, and I haven't got a clue how to do that. I'm sure Manuel is the future and everything, but for me it doesn't seem to be a very close future. I do realize my requirements are extremely specific, and highly unusual.
