Ok, I just enabled iothread to see if it made any difference with
usb redirection which it does not. I'll disable it again.
BTW, if it is best left disabled, why do the build instructions on
the wiki suggest to enable it ? :

Presumably because QEMU-with-iothread is closer to how qemu-kvm
operates; qemu-kvm always has the iothread enabled. Also, QEMU would
like to enable iothread always, but this is blocked on lack of Windows
host support and subtle bugs like yours. :(
