Thanks. In the docs it is stated that you can just compile the server by
running "make" in the subdir and this works as expected. But this requires
you to have configure it first (using configure and/or autogen.sh) and I
cannot find a way to do that for just the server component and not on the
toplevel. Is this possible? If so, how?
Or does just building the server have exactly the same dependencies as
building everything?

Sounds good. Can using these common sub modules make it easier to create an
alternative spice client? If so, how much will these modules do for you?
