Hey Listers, Whilst having fun with my new tyres, trying to get used to their directness - I found today that my engine doesnt want to do more than 4000rpm in top gear - it just won't go up anymore past 70mph. It used to go faster - I've got it up to at least 85 before. Not sure what's happened. It does go higher than 4000 - in lower gears or neutral. The MOT guy leaned off the mixture - since then I have adjusted it back - as is now pretty much how it was before.
I think a gasket might have gone on the exhaust also - it sounds more of a roar than a purr - like some dragster. Very harsh. The bolts do tend to come loose - so I tightened them up a bit. Not sure if this could be linked.
