Hi James,
The other classic problem that leads to this sort of behavour is siezed
centrefugal advance mechanism in the dizzy..
You can either check with a strobe (make sure that the ignition advances as you
rev the engine).
Or try twisting the rotor arm while looking into the top of the dizzy to see
whether the weights aremoving in and out..
