Some good advice has already been given but let me chime in with my experiences.
I have run 175/70/13s on the factory bolt on wires (4 1/2" IIRC) with no problems for many, many years. The best tires I had in that size were Avons. Absolutely the best grip/longevity/ride combination around. Currently I am running Pirelli P400s. These are OK, and my second choice, but they do not offer the same grip as the Avons. HTH Neil Yahoo!
