Joe, You could well be right - Tim Dafforn also said something similar. It is possible my memory is playing tricks on me, I may even be thinking of the BGT I had before Daffy. Or could it be that it is only the case for pre-'76 Spitfires - the post '76 car, with the TR7-style column stalks, had a totally different steering column to that on all earlier cars, so that might have a clip that is just a friction fit?
