I think that all GL-5 types of gear oil has Alkyl Sulfide and I don't think that GL-4 oils do. Synthetic oils will be too slick for the synchros to grab unless they contain friction molifiers as does the Redline oil I mentioned. Friction is required to make the synchros work properly so eliminating it entirely is not a good thing in our particular cars.
