The swap was a physical bolt on. The Isuzu costs $72.99 (Autozone) with
a life time warranty. You do have to change some wiring to bypass the
original Starter Solenoid Wiring. Moved the original "solenoid to
starter wire" to the upper lug on the Lucas solenoid and extended the
original white/red "Ignition switch to Solenoid" wire to the solenoid on
the new starter. Basically, I am using the old solenoid as a junction
block. 

According to an article I just read the Isuzu starter fits non-1500cc
Midgets perfectly (with body mods). The factory starter for Midgets and
Spits/GT6s are the same so the Isuzu starter should also fit. 1989 Isuzu
Trooper II 2.6 liter part number 17155 (best fit but man no longer be
available) or 16878 (larger body than 17155)

Now, this was actually done on a GT6, but should work just fine on a
