I welded a patch in the bottom of my '73 frame. Rust had built up between the front body outrigger and the frame itself. I am not too good at welding, it's probably the cheap welder actually!!
How much weld grind weld grind can a frame take before it gets hardened and brittle? At one point, I clamped a guide to the frame and laid a perfect 1" weld. I moved the guide, tried again and got my regular bumpy weld with gaps. If wait to long for a good puddle I burn through. Oh well, I picked up a couple frames to practice on. They are both dented in at the right rear swingarm bracket. How hard would it be to weld the rear of one frame to the front of another frame, somwhere behind the front suspension?
