Listers I've had an off-list request from one of you who is planning to come to the UK for this event. Judging by what I read of last year's event on these lists, those of you who did visit were truly amazed at its size and range of parts. Yes, it's big.
So, in the spirit of 'Standard-Triumph brotherhood', I'm making the following offer - details of which can be confirmed if there's a sufficiently viable uptake. You might like to consider the following: * Airfares between the US and UK are allegedly at an all time low. Check out how much it will cost to fly to Birmingham (BHX) or London Heathrow (LHR). London is probably a bit cheaper and may have more frequent flights. * Depending on the majority decision of arrival point on a Friday 4th February, I will meet you with a hired minibus (max 8 seats) and drive you to a reasonably priced B&B in the Stratford upon Avon area. * On Saturday morning, there will be a trip to the Standard-Triumph Memorial at the former factory site in Coventry * Saturday afternoon can be at leisure - or a motoring history tour can be arranged. We might even do it in two old Triumphs! *Saturday evening. Meal and drinks in a typical pub the Brits USE and the tourists DON'T. Prepare yourself for 'warm' beer, excellent food and good fun. Bob and Denise Rochlin went there with me if you need a testimonial? *Sunday. Pick-up at your B&B and drive to Spares Day to arrive at about 10.0am. Leave Spares Day at 3.0pm and return to B&B. If you plan to buy (surely the object of coming?) bring loads of cash. ATM machines at the site may not be operational and lots of traders won't take credit cards. Evening at leisure - or we can do another pub? *Monday. Pick-up from B&B to get you back to the airport for your 2 hour check-in before departure. Note: if up to three people in total want to participate, the minibus won't be needed and we can use my car that conveniently can pull a small trailer for your purchases 3x4x1.5 feet. If anyone is planning on buying large lumps of sheet metal, I can borrow a larger trailer. Unlikely the minibus will have a towball. I need to know the likely uptake by 15th Jan latest. This will enable me to know who is coming to BHX or LHR, book vehicle (or not) and come back to you with prices for fuel, airport parking, accommodation. Everything else - admission, food in pubs etc will be to individual account. C'mon over and have a barrel of laughs. Jonmac --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
