Barry, Have you seen or thought about using Eastwood's Stainless Steel paint? I used it on the exhaust manifolds of a '66 Ranchero years ago. Put it on right after sandblasting and it held up for 6 years with only a little bit of rust around the bolts which were not coated. I'm not sure if the headers would get hotter than the cast iron exhaust manifold, but the stuff seemed really durable and kept the parts looking like new for years. Seems like a reasonable compromise since it's only 25 bucks.

I am contemplating powder coating the set of headers that I just finished building. Since they are just bare metal now is the time to do it, however I am not sure of the hot powder coats. Anybody have any experience with them? I ordered Eastwoods 1000 deg silver and plan on using that, but if they really dont hold up all that well, Ill just paint them with VHT. After all, that I can retouch if necessary and the old manifolds look just fine with the VHT that has been on them for several years now. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------- Where Speed & Service Have Always Mattered @ http://www.ados.net Your messages not reaching the list?
