A performance 205/55/R15 tire will improve handling
braking and accelleration, all of which you attempt to
do at the limits of your tires when autoxing. Anything
wider than 205 will require additional modification to
keep the tires from rubbing. A 205/50/15 would also be
a good choice, just keep in mind that this lowers the
car 1/2 an inch, effects the gearing (which may be a
good thing), and will render your speedometer and
odometer inaccurate.
