I'm trying to eliminate all rattles from the ass end of my car and eliminate as much road noise as possible. I used expanding foam in the crevices of the trunk lid and the recession around the license plate lights which seemed to help a lot. I also bought rubberized undercoating and applied it to the back of the license plate, inside the spare tire well, and underneath the spare tire well (exterior). I plan on using more undercoating on other areas of the car as well as soon as I get more. When I get some more expanding foam I would like to apply it to gaps inside the car underneath some of the plastic panels.
The rear of the car doesn't rattle as much as before (at least not from the trunklid), but it sounds like the exhaust shield is rattling something awful. Does anyone have any tips on how to quiet it? Should I just take it off alltogether? http://www.b-quiet.com/vcomp.html If you go to the above link you can see a new material that I want to apply to the inside of the polymer door panels...It looks very heavy-duty and seems to be made more for reducing road noise than eliminating rattles. After that is done I will remove the vapor barrier from the inner door panel and replace it with: http://www.b-quiet.com/lite.html Then go on and paint the very curvy portions inside the trunk and the rear deck with http://www.b-quiet.com/bq2.html. Sound good? Any suggestions? I really need to know about the exhaust shield!! Thanks.
