The squeaks and rattles aren't all over the car. I simply want to reduce road noise and deaden the rattles that are caused by my sub. Sorry, I should have made that more clear. With the stereo turned off the inside off the car is virtually rattle-free.
The license plate doesn't rattle any more either. I covered the backside of it with rubberized undercoating and it weighs about twice as much now. I also filled in the backside of the license plate frame with silicone caulk, it too weighs much more than before. The noise is definitely coming from the exhaust shield. I just don't know how to fix it. I can't put anything near it or coat it with anything for fear of it catching on fire or simply smoldering itself away. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Ryan Jenkins Sent: Monday, April 01, 2002 7:25 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [SPOC] sound damping Removing rattles and shakes and noise from a saturn? An impossible task..... you'll end up adding a hundred pounds of dynamat or sound deadening material, and you will not ever remove all of the squeeks and rattles. And when you fix one, another will show up in its place, somewhere else. Also, you dont want to pack much of anything between the polymer panels, they expand and contract (hence the somewhat large gaps between them).
