Wow, what a day - and what fun! Why haven't I done more NESCC events in the past? With BMW CCA's move to Weymouth, I think I'll be more active with NESCC, whose events are all at Devens this year, much closer to home.
Results are already up at www.nescc.org. Selected excerpts from PAXed times: 20m STS 61 Cris Thomas 95 Saturn Blk 44.666 * 0.784 = 35.018 25m DSP 84 Matt Shoop 90 Saturn Grn 43.316 * 0.820 = 35.519 55m STS 11 Brian Austin 95 Saturn Plum 48.759 * 0.784 = 38.227 60 DSP 184 unknown [Ryan] Saturn Blk 47.089 * 0.820 = 38.613 73m DSP 12 don vandenburkh saturn 48.516 * 0.820 = 39.783 Thanks to his new Kumhos, Matt beat Cris and had the fastest Saturn of the event! Ryan Housman co-drove Matt's SL2, for a total of 5 drivers in 4 different Saturns. This may be a record Saturn turnout for an autocross, with the possible exception of the last SCCNH event of last year. (Speaking of which, Oldgoat, what's the schedule of events for this year?) As for my own personal battle: 45m CSP 77 eldon brooks honda crx 44.645 * 0.842 = 37.591 74m CSP 69 Justin Hughes 86 CRX Red 48.438 * 0.842 = 40.785 As you can see, I've completely lost the knack of autocrossing a FWD car on street tires, spoiled by my RWD car on race tires.I had a 47 second run with a cone, and I know I had faster times than 48 available in the afternoon, after we set the Konis full stiff. That's when Eldon scored his 44. But I blew the tight pinch after the long sweeper onto the second runway both times, not used to how much speed the car would carry, and simply didn't think far enough ahead to be ready for the next part of the course. It shouldn't have surprised me like that. Oh well - at least I helped him sort out the car, which was my purpose for the day (that's why I wasn't running the Miata). With a time like that on all-season Toyos, I don't think he needs any more help from me. :) Even Chang, the CRX guru (who sold him the car), was very impressed. And at least Matt made a Saturn faster than Eldon's Honda! :) Eddie Savage posted a link to his pics from this event: http://homepage.mac.com/flywheel/PhotoAlbum4.html . Cris and Don appear in them. - Justin SPOC NE web site: http://www.spocne.org
