As Achtung reported, there's a story about a so-called spy catched at Dorval (now Trudeau) airport in Montreal. As I wrote on another group, I don't see it as a lucky catch. It looked like they waited to get the good opportunity to catch it. By the way, it is more or less related, but this airport is known as a hot spot on the underground scene. Per example, local stories reported drug dealers were controlled some parts of the airports since a while and customs officers were afraid to inspect some aircrafts. Yesterday, a major raid leaded to arrestations at the airport after two years of investigation. Also, it is not the first time something like that happens in Canada. I didn't seen his shortwave radio, but since I live in the Montreal area, I can tell it must be a very good one. The only good signal I know and I can catch here are V2a and the morse stations. I don't really know what else he can be listened to. Maybe, he knews something where and when to listen to a station hidden "behind" a major public station we didn't discovered yet. During the Cold war era, Canada hosted many radio stations, because the country location (between US and USSR via North Pole) was strategic to catch messages. Some stations are still in the business today. Many were located in remote areas, but some of them are as close to Montreal as a 2 hours drive.
