Almost forgot...

Rather than snip test, Dean Collins shoots a 'test' frame of each 'shot'
that he composes or sets up to shoot.  He does this with a separate film
back or film holder, and then he has it developed and looks at it before any
other film for that job is processed.  Mr. "Specular and Diffused Highlight"
himself also shoots all of his film a half stop under exposed, planning to
purposely push every roll a half stop in the event that he wants a half stop
'pull' which in most cases can't be done.  This is also like having the
option to have a half stop (or any fractional variable offered) darker or
more saturated exposures, and of course you can always push up to a couple
of stops.  When I have Dean Collins' money, then I can try this too.  I
already drink as much coffee as he does. :)
