I shot quite a bit of Provia 100 last November while I was working in Portland Oregon. The gorge was very dark and rainy all month. I got some very good results shooting both the BNSF and UP using my 2 Nikons with a Tokina ATX 28-70 2.8 lens. Most of the time I was shooting at 1/200 or 1/250 wide open, and some times and 1/125. I have not pushed Provia yet, but at the 100 ASA rating, I have had some very good luck with it. Provia seems to keep an acceptable ( for me at least) range of contrast and sharpness at wider apperatures. I actually prefer shooting in bad weather, you don't have to worry which side the sun is on!!!! Oh, by the way, while shooting in the gorge last November I was chasing a 3 unit set of BNSF Dash 9's dowm the gorge. I jumped out of the rental car to get a grab shot in the pouring rain. I made the mistake of not shutting the car off, and I shut the door only too have the automatic lock device lock me out!!!! I spent an hour in the pouring rain waiting for AAA to show up and let me back in. When chasing I now have a spare door key in my wallet and my cell phone in my pocket. I also remove the fuse for the automatic door locks while using rental cars!!!!
