I don't use the traditional cable release anymore because four years ago I switched to electronic cameras (Canon EOS-1 and A2) which use an electronic remote shutter release...basically an extension cord with a switch.
If you're making that kind of equipment upgrade (Canon EOS series, Canon T90, Nikon N90, etc.) there is a product made in the UK that allows you to use the traditional old cable release on these new electronic cameras. It's essentially a contraption that holds the cable release over the shutter release button. It's called the Switch Back and it sells for about $20. For more information, contact Robert Scott Associates at [EMAIL PROTECTED] Canon also makes an electronic adaptor to mate your cable release to the new electronic shutter release, and I would assume Nikon has a similar product. An item that you see now and then at the local camera swap meets here is the Leica twin cable release...a shutter release that attaches to a pair of cameras and trips them simultaneously. I understand this accessory is quite the item with Leica collectors. --> SPORRS: Serious Photographers of Railroad Related Subjects X-Mozilla-Status: 0001 Content-Length: 7714
