Lumedyne was created to offer a cheaper alturnative to the Norman over ten years ago. Also not as heavy. Today if you bump up the Lumedyne to 400WS they almost cost the same and they do get a little heavy. Calument lists Norman for around $785. complete. If you ever do work with an AC adapter the Lumedyne is just as heavy as the heavies. Both are great portables though but I suppose the plastic Lumedyne might not hold up as well as the Norman. Mine has however. Lumedyne will also attach to standard tripod screw if that's important to anybody. John is right, the long burning bulbs are still the first choice. But if you don't have the cash for the bulbs these Normans or Lumedynes are fine.
Calument said in their recent sale catalog they will no longer publish a big annual catalog. Several smaller versions covering a variety of topics will be the norm. I'm sure quantity of product was the main reason, but the real reason is probably postage. --> SPORRS: Serious Photographers of Railroad Related Subjects X-Mozilla-Status: 0011 Content-Length: 5035
