I have just joined the sporrs list, and while I do not consider myself
a serious railroad photographer I do consider myself a photographer. I shoot
pictures of railroads because I enjoy the subject and like to share it with
others who cannot or will not take pictures to share.
I will be traveling to England in Dec. of this year and would like to
know if anyone has information of good spots to shoot in and around London. I
will also be in the North Cornwall and North Devon area for a few days. Any
suggestions for that area. I would also like to obtain the information
mentioned in John Lucas' recent posting about methods of packing equipment
for air travel. I am especially interested in protecting both my unexposed
and exposed film from X-rays. Anyone have good suggestions? I know that the
British are very careful with checking baggage and do not want to ruin any
of my pictures. I have X-ray shield bags. Are these good enough for placing
film in luggage? What about the three 35mm roll lead containers? Any
assistance would be greatly appreciated.
One more thing, I do go out and watch the trains go by my house even
when I do not have my camera handy, but the double stacks sure get boring after
a while
