Black sky for a background, sun shining through a storm to illuminate the subject, snow coming down, etc. All of these can enhance the scene and make it come more alive. Saturday I was riding with the BNSF helpers (for an article to appear in rail News) going up Cajon at dawn into a storm and with the sun shining off of the orange Hyundai container directly in front of the helper unit off to the side was the arch of a rainbow showing up against bright green hillsides and a black sky.
