That's not the ladder's fault.

I carry a six foot wooden ladder in my pickup truck, as that offers the
greatest flexibility in composing a scene.  And it's tall enough to get over
most fences; more than once it paid for itself for that reason alone.  Six
foot is the longest that the bed of the truck will accomodate.

Properly used, the ladder can be one of the most important tools of the trade.
When traveling, I find it easier most of the time to simply buy one where I'm
going, rather than to schlep it though airports amongst all the other bags.
Even the cheepies hold together for the week or so that they're needed.
