I just spent a few days in the snow Taking pictures of McCloud Railway
Company's Steam Engine #25 on a excursion trip . The snow was 4' to 5'
deep. Before going on the trip I cut some 8" circles from 3ply plywood with
a hole in the center for the tripod leg to go through about 2". They were
then tied loosely to the tripod so when the tripod was set in the snow the
disks could confirm to the snow. I also had a pair of snow shoes, these are
the ones with out long tails as they are hard too turn around in the snow.
I was able to walk around in the snow and set my tripod where I wished
while others were up to there waste in snow.

Happy Rails
