> Dave,
The second scan is a better scan than the original. The color and
contrast is closer to what I remember seeing projected on the screen at
your place. Perhaps even better since the computer screen does fall out
focus every time the screen isn't perfectly square with the projectors.
All you need do is to couple the image with a recording of mice playing
in the back ground and you'll have the full effect.
Second topic:
Are you still interested trying to post some b/w images? If so I'll
see if I can find the negatives from my steam b/w shots. One of 1522
and other from the East Broad Top.
I might also give a try at you railfan trip shot. I've got some slides
from S. California (circa the SP Tehac.image). Give me idea of the
amount of text vs slides you think we need for that and lets put one out
there and see if we can flush out of some the other contributors. I
think that topic could be rich once we tap into it because there seems
to be two schools of subscribers: photographers and railfans (yes I know
there's is some over lap).
If you get the submissions for that site and want to supplement it
with maps let me know and I might be able to borrow some USGS quads for
scanning. It may take a little extra work to support the maps of our
European based contributors, but you might be surprised what I can dig
up at work (unclassified only).
