I cannot speak about the difference in prices between established dealers
in used camera equipment and those people who will be set up at a camera
show, but, to be sure that I am getting used equipment with no hidden
defects, I would much rather deal with a known, reputable used camera
broker than some unknown person or company who is set up on a table at a
Holiday Inn banquet room!

Sure, the equipment for sale at a camera show might be just fine, but
what if the camera's shutter speeds are slow, or the lens elements are
out of alignment, or there is some other problem with the equipment that
cannot be ascertained just by looking at and listening to it? What do
you do a week later when you get your slides back from the lab, and the
photos are blurred from a gimpy shutter or have soft focus from that lens
"bargain" that got bumped a little too hard by the previous owner?
Hopefully, you will have purchased your equipment from some company or
honest person who backs up the limited warranty they offer you. Good
luck!

I have purchased many thousands of dollars of camera equipment from
Del's, with absolute 100% satisfaction. I even returned a lens that I
didn't like (no problem with it, as it functioned perfectly just as
advertised), and Del refunded all of my money without question. Other
pro photogs I know also have dealt with KEH with no problems encountered.

Remember, this is not like buying some old rusty lantern with a cracked
globe and a missing fount at a railroad show that you will be hanging on
a nail in your basement so you can look at it now and then! You are out
to purchase an expensive, precise piece of mechanical, electrical and
optical equipment that must be in 100% operating condition every time you
use it, or else it is worthless.

For my money and peace of mind, I would buy old flashbulbs and
photography books from those at a camera show, and would buy experienced
cameras and lenses only from reputable dealers of used equipment.

Caveat emptor!
