"Extra 9000 West at Red Pass, clear signal, north track, out" ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 19 Mar 1998 20:16:04 -0700 From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: Lac La Biche excursion. The Alberta Railway Museum is in the process of completing a proposal to run an excursion train on the first week-end of August 1997. The planned motive power for this excursion will be the Museum's ex-CN 4-6-0 #1392 (Montreal Locomotive Works - 1913) and the Museum's ex-CN F3A #9000 (EMD - 1948) as backup power. The starting point for the run will be at Lac La Biche, Alberta, which is 120 miles north-east of Edmonton. This excursion is to run at the same time as the Village of Lac La Biche's annual "Pow-Wow" days, which this year will also mark the 200th anniversary of the foundation of the village. Lac La Biche is the headquarters of RaiLink's Lakeland and Waterways Division, which operates the former CN trackage between Boyle (interchange point with CN) and the end of track at Lynton (Ft. McMurray). At this time a one day trip with numerous photo opportunities is planned from Lac La Biche to Boyle and return, catering to the more seasoned rail enthusiast. We also expect to operate several short excursions from Lac La Biche northward on subsequent days, for people that wish to ride but do not want to spend the whole day. The last scheduled passenger service on this line was the "Muskeg Mixed", which ceased operation in 1989. At this time, pending final completion and acceptance of the proposal by all involved, the Museum is seeking expressions of interest by those who might wish to purchase tickets for the day trip from Lac La Biche to Boyle and return. Expressions of interest received prior to the final completion of plans will receive priority handling. At this time, no deposit is needed, however, the Museum reserves the right to seek a deposit in order to hold a reservation. It is currently expected that the cost for the day long photo excursion will be approximately $150.00, the actual price may be higher or lower. Please note, space is limited. The Museum retains the right to cancel the excursion should there be insufficient interest. If interested, please contact the Museum's agent for this excursion, Coronado Travel, advising your name, address, and phone number, and referring to the Lac La Biche excursion. When final plans are completed in late April, you will receive further information. Contact Coronado Travel by email at [EMAIL PROTECTED] or by fax at (403) 942 2664. At this time, no phone calls will be accepted. -30- ======================================================= -> SPORRS: 'Serious Photographers Of Railroad Related Subjects' -> Web Site: http://www.anet-stl.com/acphotog/sporrs/ -> Message © 1998 SPORRS® - All Rights Reserved =======================================================
