I too carry a rather extensive first responder kit in my travel vehicle as well
as a smaller kit in my photopack.? I became an EMT in Connecticut in 1974 and
maintained that certification until a few years ago.? My point is not to impress
anyone but point out that carrying all the hardware is fine but you need some
important knowledge to go with it.? Many times emergency medical courses are
available free or at nominal cost in your community and don't overlook getting
CPR training (cardio-pulmonary rescusitation).? As DRB's experience shows,
something can happen at any time. Frequently knowing what *not* to do in a given
situation may be very important.? A cell phone to summon assistance could be a
real life-saver and if you like to photograph in really remote locations, a GPS
receiver to pinpoint your location for your rescuers couldmean a lot to the well
being of you or your companion(s).
Let's be careful out there!
