When out railfanning, I use my Canon EOS 80-200 f2.8L and a Tokina Pro
28-70 f2.6-2.8 and a Tamron 2X teleconverter.  That basically covers from
28 mm to 400 mm, easily usable in most situations.  As soon as money
permits, I will upgrade to the EOS 70-200 f2.8L USM and the 28-70 f2.8L ,
plus the Canon 2X.  I occasionally have a need for wider than 28 mm, but
not enough to justify the expenditure, yet.
