I am not sure about Kodak because I have not shot any kodachrome for
several years now. But when I bulk mail film to Fuji in Phoenix, it comes
back FedEx.

Another idea would be to set up a FedEx or other express mail account where
you have your own supply of FedEx envelopes and account number. When I
have been shooting for the BN and now BNSF, I send the film to Fuji in a
FedEX envelope and include another FedEx account label in the baggage for
the return shipment. By using next day shipment, I usually will get the
film back within four days (on fourth day). The delay is because I have
found that Fuji will break up large orders and run them in different
batches and on different days. This is done so if there is a problem in
the developing, they will not ruin all of you film. Nice safe touch!

The only problems I have had with Fuji mailing the film to Phoenix is now
that twice they have managed to loose some of my film. Both times they did
manage to find the film and get it to me unharmed. The first time, two
rolls (of twelve or more) were inadvertantly sent to their pick-up counter
and sat there for two weeks. They said they never received them. After
repeated calls, the last one informing them how they would have had to
receive them because they were mailed in the same envelope with the other
rolls and since there was no postage on the Fuji mailers inside, he post
office would have returned them to me if the big padded envelope had been
ripped open which was very unlikely.

The last time, which is now, they managed to send one of six rolls to
someone else. There original claim was all six of my rolls were sent back
to me. But there was only five rolls in the Priority mail envelope which
they used to return the film. I did get a call yesterday that they did
have someone return the pictures of trains to them and they were on there
way to me.

Both times, they sent me some free film and mailers (three of each this
last time).

Both times I must admit that while it was a disheartening experience to
have some of your film lost, Martha (from Fuji) did not give me some song
and dance. At least the last time. The first time, she tried to blame it
on the post office. So I will continue to use the prepaid Fuji mailers.

As a side note, when I inquired into opening an account with them and
dispensing with the mailers I was told that there regular charges were
about three dollars a roll more than the cost of the mailer thru NY. Go
figure. But it is probably like coupons were a large number of them or
never returned. So maybe we mailer users are being subsidized by others?
I'll take it.
