Saw UP7329 leading a Labidie coal train through Jeff City yesterday, I =
believe these are new 6000 HP GE's. The series starts at 7300 to ?. =
They started coming on the UP at the end of April. I believe I got a =
great image of the train from the Jeff City Hwy 63 bridge easing into =
town along the Missouri River bluffs. This spot(Missouri River bridge =
under construction) is best in the early summer mornings with a small =
telephoto lense and after 8:30 with a normal lense probably until about =
11:00AM or so.
A question for Choo-Choo Charlie, the rumor is that the BNSF has sold =
the lead branch out of Cuba, MO. True? What are the radio channels on =
the Cuba sub? I will try to shoot down that line in June especially =
between Valley Park and Dixon. What may be some highlights of the line =
that I might not see from a road? I know the Meramac river bridge in =
Times Beach ( which might be able to access from as the park is now =
toxin free and may be able to drive back into the river) and also the =
bridge at Jerome (west of Rolla). Give us the scoop.=20
Also in relation to the detours up the Cuba sub while the Thayer is =
closed, the BNSF is supposed to detour over the GWWR Kansas City to St. =
Louis. Also, the coal trains to Memphis I had heard were to stay in Iowa =
to Burlington and then down the K-Line into St. Louis.=20
Not only will the Cuba sub see mucho trains while the work goes on the =
Thayer sub, but the K-Line and particularly the River Sub out of St. =
Louis to Turrell-Memphis will be quite active. =20
Any other routes the BNSF will utilize while the Thayer work proceeds? =
=20
