Mr. Oates,

I read your message and just wanted to clarify a point or two. I
didn't mean to imply that shooting Kodak or wedgies was bad or should be
avoided. Hell I've shoot more Kodak than Fuji and I've sure the hell
shot my share of wedgies. In regards to the film I just want to point
out in my message that there was nothing wrong with shooting Kodak (or
what ever anyones favorite film is). However I did want to sting a
couple (not all) of the college/highschooler age photographers that are
just starting to learn about rail photography from locking into one film
or one camera. The guy who wrote about only shooting with prime lens
and thought that zooms were bad because that what his professor told him
epitomizes this perspective. As Rush Limbaugh would say; "skulls full
of mush".

In reply to Greg Anderson and anyone else who might like to listen.

Yes,I shoot ONLY Kodachrome and refuse to try anythig else, and I didn't

start taking pictures last week.I take lots of roster and wedgie shots.

Like I said in my opening paragraph I don't think I said that there was
anything wrong with shooting only one type of film. I didn't say that
you started taking pictures last week. Compared to you and about half
of this page I'm probably one of the more junior photographers on this
page, and I take rosters and wedgies too.

Will I try other film? Sure, with the feedback from SPORRS I'm learning
about the various types.

Me too. However having experimented with some of the Fuji stuff since
subscribing to the site I find that I perfer my results with that film.
I like Velvia because I perfer super saturated color (even if it's not
true to life), but my slower lens keep me away from that stuff except in
special situations. I still shoot some K-64 from time to time but I
like that better for my scouting pictures because of the flesh tones.

 Will I buy a $300.00 ball head,no.Will buy a high priced
tripod, probably not.I don't feel that I need all that equipment.

I might breakdown and upgrade my tripod and head. But even if I
don't I know what to look for in that equipment and can feel a bit more
knowledgeable when standing trackside with someone like who does utilize
them. If I had $10,000 worth of equipment I think I'd be more inclined
to upgrade this support equipment.

I've been taking pictures since the mid-fifties and I'm still learning.

It's the learning part that I think is important and that's what I'm
in this for. I don't think we've disagreed with one another and if you
were offended by my comments I apologize.
