Exercise and Wellness Specialist - Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources in partnership with the School of Health Sciences 
and Human Performance is accepting applications for one full-time and one 
part-time Exercise and Wellness Specialist to provide health and exercise 
programs and services is support of the College's wellness program administered 
through the on campus Wellness Clinic.  The successful candidates will perform 
and supervise assessments, develop exercise prescriptions, and supervise 
exercise sessions for wellness program participants; develop programming for 
and supervise participants with disease such as controlled heart disease and 
diabetes; provide coaching directed toward wellness, emphasizing personal 
motivation to improve behaviors and education; and identify health and wellness 
needs and, with the assistance of other staff, help program participants 
improve lifestyle behaviors and set appropriate goals in the areas of exercise, 
nutrition, stress management, weight management, and smoking cessation.  
Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Exercise 
Science or related field; at least one year full-time experience working in a 
clinical exercise program with high risk and diseased clients; excellent 
communication skills; strong organizational and motivational skills; and the 
ability to coach participants effectively required.   Experience in wellness 
programming such as nutrition, wellness coaching, stress management, smoking 
cessation, and disease management preferred.  ACSM certification as a Clinical 
Exercise Specialist or Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist and ACLS 
certification desired and will be required within the first year of employment.
