George,

Biggest issue we have found is the ESFR obstruction rules do not mix
well with a manufacturing environment.

Subject: ESFR in Mfg

We're raising our heads out of the sand of being spkr guys and bidding a
manufacturing building (wood and vinyl building products) as ESFR since
this eliminates the need for heat and smoke vents, thus more than
compensating for the increased cost over OH 2 thru most of the building.
There will be some rack storage, but mostly manufacturing.

Without the large fire plume usually associated with rack storage being
absent cause a problem with activation of the ESFR? 40' roof, maybe
slightly higher (yes, expensive couple of feet possible requiring K25's)

Owner is self-insured, generally risk aversive, the now rare breed that
actually wants it done "correctly" although money is not to be ignored.
We'd like to advise if this could present problems with adequate
protection levels. I know this was touched on briefly, but its one of
those weird eves when email works but internet doesn't. maybe its on
strike in sympathy?
