We had 800 feet installed in a co-gen plant under the outside gratings.
Every piece "made in China" leaked under city pressure. All the seams were
bad. Looked like a rain forest. Wound up back charging the supplier almost
$30,000.00.

Subject: Galvanized Pipe

This one would fall under don't shoot the messenger also. This was forwarded
to me from another AHJ. Have any contractors out there have any knowledge of
this?

Just a quick note that today a sprinkler fitter had over 120 feet of
six inch galvanized pipe fail during a hydro test today. In fact, it would
be fair to say that it violently failed today. After examination by the
sprinkler company and the fire department, we determined that there
were two suppliers of the pipe. a majority of it made in Turkey and these
sections that failed was made in China.

The entire pipe is properly stamped to meet the standards, through just
by feel only it was evident that the product made in China was
substantially thinner in all of the grooved ends that failed. The sprinkler
fitter is pulling the entire China produced pipe out and replacing it.

So, as a simple FYI, watch out for the grooved galvanized pipe that is
clearly labeled as Made in China. One construction worker was injured
and it scared the (blank) out of a bunch of other workers as sixty feet of
this pipe came crashing down.
