The problem with this scenario is that the folding doors are combustible in
many cases but they leave little room for a head. Many AHJ's will allow the
omission of the head but in the true sense of interpretation, I believe a
head needs to be installed. It is similar to a small mechanical closet in
an apartment. Not really any room to put a head but it needs a head none
the less.

If you can't get a pendant or upright in one corner of the closet, maybe a
sidewall would work if there is room. I think that any head, obstructed or
not, would give you enough water in the small closet to accomplish the
intended goal. Avoiding damage to the head is the biggest problem. You
don't want the door to "clip" it off when it is being stored.

Just my opinion.

Subject: folding door alcove

A question came up on a hotel with a meeting room that could be
divided in two by a folding partition. The partition folds into a
space roughly the size of a closet. The ceiling of this space is
mostly track that partition runs on. Does this space need to be
sprinklered? If so, does anyone have any good ideas how to do it?
