Per 13-2007 Figure A9.1.1 "Short Strap" is very like a fig 23 (Tolco but is in fact not a Fig. 23 but a Fig 20 or 20S) If your using these there is no problem with the "Hanger". The problem as I see it is that most wood trusses are not that strong in the bottom cord. Has the Structural engineer approved this applied point load on the bottom cord?

If there's no commentary in 13R check out NFPA 13, 2007, A.9.1.1 for
commentary on this subject and Figure A.9.1.1.

But Is it being "hung"? 13 speaks to hangers and attachments. Can the
truss be considered a hanger? The only mention I see is 9.1.1.5.3 which
references "holes" in structural members. So do you need to provide some
sort of attachment on the top of the bottom chord? The use of hole
implies radial protection/support. The CPVC strap is attached to both
the pipe AND the structure, so a listing question could fairly arise. As
for the listing for CPVC only, of course that is for weight
consideration and for the no chafing bevels on the edges. I would be
very concerned if there is no restraint (for sprinkler activation not
seismic) on the system.
