I am not a fitter. That qualifies some of the ignorance with the first question. The second question I think I know, but I hope to get some ammo to go to take to the boss, you know.
My boss is telling me not to put any weld-o-lets on a main line. Instead he wants them all on the branch lines. I have a 2-1/2 inch "main" running down a corridor. He wants the main offset and all sprinklers for the corridor to come off of the branchlines into the rooms. Not all of the corridor sprinklers line up with the branch lines, so it is a bit more piping; however it is not excessive. Just curious as to what anyone might use for the logic in this. If there is logic with not putting sprinklers off of the main, it will educate me to know it. Second question... My boss says if a job has plastic pipe, then the entire job should use plastic pipe. I think that is ridiculous for the relatively more-expensive sizes over 3 inches where i hear steel comes in under the plastic costs. Anyone have opinions and facts regarding transitioning from plastic to steel as a valid way to go, when pipe diameters exceed 3 inches? scot deal excelsior fire _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field)
