I Really appreciate the knowledge you all are sharing. Really. How we will get it dug, is the debate. Water company will dig. Their bid is $250 per ft for 300 ft though. They assured me this would include the hot tap, pipe and tamping.
So, I went to some guys who were backhoeing streets -- just down from the office. What information I did get led me to $35 per ft. They said they would throw a single tooth in-place of the bucket and rock on. I didn´t expect them to include the hot tap, though. Water company charges a premium, as they don´t want the work. How far over what a legitimate private excavator would bid, 20%? $200/ft? I am still waiting for call backs. RS Means suggest about $100/LF with blasting, excavating, pipe, fill and compaction of 100 BCY. Add the cost of a one-shank ripper and 20% inefficiency and we are at $135/LF. Figure inflation at 4% for 2 years- We get about $145/LF. but that is wide-eyed guessing. I could be abusing the Means. Scot Deal Excelsior Fire > if you mean rock, as in ROCK then $85/ft. is a pittance. Hard-pan can be > bad enough that a big hoe or blasting could be required. Real rock strata > requires a track hoe with an incredibly powerful breaker AND explosives. _______________________________________________ Sprinklerforum mailing list [email protected] http://lists.firesprinkler.org/mailman/listinfo/sprinklerforum To Unsubscribe, send an email to:[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Put the word unsubscribe in the subject field)
