Reduce the possibility of future sprinkler pipe obstructions. Increased corrosion growth evident in dry pipe sprinkler systems, especially with smaller diameter pipe.

What would the benefit be to your customer to change the 3/4" to 1"? Bob Knight -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rick Green Sent: Thursday, October 18, 2007 2:47 PM To: [email protected] Subject: 3/4" Steel Pipe on Dry Pipe System East Coast recently completed inspection of a dry pipe sprinkler system. During trip test unable to trip the dry pipe system because of foreign material causing pipe blockage. Initially pipe blockage was notice in the inspectors test pipe. After a thorough inspection, majority of the pipe including mains, branch lines showed signs of foreign material in the pipe. We have proposed to owner to flush sprinkler system and also replace ¾" branch line pipe. Is their a standard reference that requires removal of 3/4" sprinkler pipe with larger diameter pipe (1") when the sprinkler pipe is flushed? Rick E.
