Yes, that is part of my problem, the other part is that NFPA-13 requires the hanger component attached to the pipe to be listed. Can anyone point me to a listed Split Ring?

All the split rings I find are rated at only 180# or 300#. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Thom McMahon Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2007 4:16 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: Split-Ring Hanger No! We always load test out shots, before installation, and sample test during installation. Hilti does this for free, as a service to sell more shot's and pins. Hilti also has Engineers letters they can provide with their anchors. The minimum Tension load for 3/8" quick bolts is over 2000 Lbs (When installed per installation instructions) I think this will exceed any load up to and including 4" pipe on 15' CTC between hangers.(Only about 1150 Lbs total 5x waterfilled weight of pipe +250)(Note 2007 9.1.3.5(3) limits spacing to 10'-0" for 4" and larger) Hilti will come and do a test pull for you, before you order 2000 pieces and find you need 3" into concrete to meet load vs 11/2" (Other fine brands sold by associate members may also perform satisfactorily) Thom McMahon Firetech, Inc. 2560 Copper Ridge Dr Steamboat Springs, CO 80488-2136 Tel: 970-879-7952 Fax: 970-879-7926 ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Minkel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2007 1:27 PM Subject: RE: Split-Ring Hanger > Have you ever gotten any flak as to the listing or max load capacity of > split rings in this use? > > > Bill Minkel, Designer > Member NFPA > Western States F.P., Dallas > > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Thom > McMahon > Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2007 2:21 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: Split-Ring Hanger > > Not with a quick bolt, but with HILTI studs shot into concrete. > > Thom McMahon > Firetech, Inc. > 2560 Copper Ridge Dr > Steamboat Springs, CO 80488-2136 > Tel: 970-879-7952 > Fax: 970-879-7926 > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Bill Minkel" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[email protected]> > Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2007 1:09 PM > Subject: Split-Ring Hanger > > >> Has anyone ever used split ring hangers, for instance on 1" & 1 1/4" >> branch >> lines, say 2" CL below concrete deck with a qwik-bolt?
