Along the same lines, there is typically a pressure differential with the inside of the cooler (more so freezers) being slightly lower. Thus a seal around the barrel is important. ON older dry pendents, air could also flow INTO the barrel and out the weep hole. Check the vintage on the model of the sprinkler.

We have a situation with a dry pendant located minimum 24" away from coil in a cooler. Apparantly, condensation is building up on head and dripping water on cooler floor. This is a cooler box at a Walgreens. Box is very narrow and really no other place to put head. Has anyone experienced this before and come up with an idea to correct this problem? Walgreen's is telling us to put a baffle between head and coil. Not a good idea, altho, box is small enough that head will flood entire area, but baffle adds an obstruction. Thanks for any ideas or help. I actually told them, coil was running too cool. Go figure...I am not a refrigeration person.
