Actually, it is a Light Hazard Occupancy (2007, A.5.2), and perhaps this is what the A/E is using as the design basis. Are you saying that the contract documents have a room schedule with every room classified LH, or are you saying that the A/E has classified the building as Light Hazard?
If the former, then you need to get your position in writing and submit to the contracting officer. If the latter, then you should be designing based on the "portions of occupancies" approach in 2007, 11.2.1.2.3. Bill Brooks William N. Brooks, P.E. The A/E contract documents indicate it's light hazard. But there is a print shop, a wood shop, a foundry, kiln room and oil paint studios and some solvent storage. Insurance engineer is asking questions. After 7 weeks we are still designing LH per the contract documents. I expect the plans to be sighted then maybe we can get a change order to redesign it. I have no access to the faculty to ask questions. I chose not to volunteer the upgrade without the change order. I have asked 3 different times for clarification. Am I going the wrong way here.
