So you've confirmed to the AE team you're proceeding as they direct, LH throughout exceptthe small closets; so when the AHJ bounces the dwgs, you get paid a CO for the revisions.
If you haven't confirmed this original intention and direction with them in writing, DO SO ! glc -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of art Sent: Monday, February 25, 2008 9:48 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Sprinklers in Art Bldg. at the University The FP schematic dwg show outlines of entire floors as light hazard. Small storage closets are designated ordinary hazard with only one sprinkler required per room. The A/E documents indicate a light hazard occupancy. Wood working shop, print shop with silk screening and plate room are not light hazard. These are not class rooms for EDU occupancy. I have spoken to the local fire marshal. He is waiting for sprinkler drawings to review. Are you saying that the contract documents have a room schedule with every room classified LH, or are you saying that the A/E has classified the building as Light Hazard? If the former, then you need to get your position in writing and submit to the contracting officer. If the latter, then you should be designing based on the "portions of occupancies" approach in 2007, 11.2.1.2.3. Bill Brooks William N. Brooks, P.E. The A/E contract documents indicate it's light hazard. But there is a print shop, a wood shop, a foundry, kiln room and oil paint studios and some solvent storage. Insurance engineer is asking questions. After 7 weeks we are still designing LH per the contract documents. I expect the plans to be sighted then maybe we can get a change order to redesign it. I have no access to the faculty to ask questions. I chose not to volunteer the upgrade without the change order. I have asked 3 different times for clarification. Am I going the wrong way here.
