Chances are his reaction was more due to toxic gases and smoke released from
the burning material than from the FM-200. Remember furniture can have foam
plastics, and other materials that release several different toxic gases from
the burning process.

I wouldn't walk into a fire scenario without a respirator (air tank and mask)
immediately after it was extinguished. That is for trained fire fighters, who
have the proper clothing and breathing equipment.

He should be examined by a Doctor.

I would not worry about the effects of FM-200, it has documentation proving it
is not harmful to humans if they are in the space when it is released. Now the
gases released from the other stuff that would be burning most likely will
cause them some harm.

Subject: FM-200 Decomposition Product _URGENT!!!

Hi all,
I have a question about hydrogen fluoride which is decomposition product of
FM-200 agent at high temperature:

In testing FM-200 system in a 160 sq.feet enclosure where we fired a chair and
the chair was completely burning, FM-200 agent released in 40 sec. After the
fire suppressed, suddenly a person entered the smoky enclosure and was
subjected to the room atmosphere for about 10 seconds, his eyes was red and
coughing hardly. He washed his face & he was good after an hour.

As the size of flame was big vs enclosure volume & as the release time was too
much so HF concentration was probably at high level.
This happened three days before & no affects can been seen until now.
My question is that:
1- How much dangerous was it for the man? Was HF concentration too much to make
serious affects to the man?
2- What should he do now?

Thanks all!
Reza
