The requirement of a backflow assembly depends on your water supply connection.
If you are getting your water from a municipal supply then you will have one,
(as opposed to drawing your fire water from a private fire water storage tank).
Any AWWA approved assembly is what is being referenced. Check with the water
department to verify what type of backflow they require and if there are any
particular manufactures they prefer.

Look at AMES, FEBCO, for some examples of double check, RPZ and other types of
backflows.

Subject: foward flow test

According to NFPA 13 10.10.2.5.1 I have to have a backflow prevention assembly
but does not tell what that is or what it is to include. Can anyone give me
that info?
