If it can hinder the discharge of a sprinkler due to it's location relative to the sprinkler and it's size, it's an obstruction.
1) 6ft. sq platform; it's over 4ft, typically you'd put one under. Used to be a rule of over 4ft in width or 10sq. ft., put a sprinkler below. 2) 10'x20' mezzanine; yes. 3) cat walk; that depends on how it's arranged based on width, relation of it in regards to position of sprinklers, so maybe or most likely. But one would have to see the plans to make the final determination. Craig L. Sprinklers below? 2) Open grate flooring for a mezz 10ft W x 20ft L. Sprinklers below? 3) Open grate flooring for a cat walk. Steel bldg 25H x 80L x 40W sprinkler protection at the roof level. Cat walk 6ft below roof and take up half the bldg. Used for light suspension below that can be moved around. (Event center) Thanks in advance.
