The owner of this building had an 8" underground pipe burst. Then he
took it upon himself to utilize an abandoned existing 6" fire service
adjacent to the building. The original 8" fire service was located
directly in front of building 'A' and ran directly under the building
with the riser located behind building 'A' which continued on to feed
two other buildings located behind building 'A'. All three systems
were modified 5 years back and had the 3/4" end branch line piping
changed to 1" pipe and heads changed out for the 50 year head
inspection. Preliminary calculations that I reviewed from previous
contractor indicated inadequate water for the current occupancy and
that Reliable F1FR
were used. I had to loop the existing pipe schedule system and limit
there rack storage to 12'. The owner chose to lower the storage height
rather than invest in upgrading the system.
